The next generation of applications built on the Microsoft platform will use the new Windows Communication Foundation to handle interactions with other systems.  WCF will support many of the advanced web services specifications (collectively known as WS-*) to enable rich interoperability with other systems that includes security, reliable messaging, and atomic transactions.  In the Java world, Sun is introducing a new web services stack called “Web Services Interoperability Technology”, also known as Project Tango.  Sun and Microsoft engineers have been working together to ensure that WCF and WSIT applications can “tango”, er… interoperate together, enabling secure, reliable, and transacted communications between the two platforms to be possible.  Learn about WCF & WSIT and how you can utilize these technologies to implement interoperability between .NET and Java applications.
