Microsoft SQL Server 2008 adds numerous new capabilities for developers, from support for spatial data types to a mechanism to store SQL BLOB data using the NTFS file system and several things in between. There are also several improvements to development-related areas from Transact-SQL (T-SQL) to SQL common language runtime (CLR) to XML. In this webcast, we discuss the new capabilities of SQL Server 2008, and we give you some insight into how to use the new capabilities effectively in your upcoming development projects.

Presenter: Jennifer Marsman, Developer Evangelist, Microsoft Corporation

Jennifer Marsman is a developer evangelist in the Microsoft Developer and Platform Evangelism group where she educates developers on new Microsoft technologies. Prior to becoming a developer evangelist, Jennifer was a software developer in the Microsoft Natural Interactive Services division where she filed two patents for her work in search and data mining algorithms. Jennifer has also held positions with Ford Motor Company, National Instruments, and Soar Technology, and she earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and master's degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her graduate work specialized in artificial intelligence and computational theory.
