Event Overview

geekSpeak is a new kind of webcast series, hosted by developer evangelists from Microsoft. Dispensing with slide decks and scripted demos, geekSpeak webcasts bring you industry experts in a sort of "talk-radio" format. These experts share their knowledge and experience around a particular developer technology, and they are ready to answer your questions in real time during the webcast. Learn about industry trends, new technology, real-world experiences, and more. During the webcast, you hear lively discussion and debate, and you can even add your comments to the fray. Who knows, you might even see a whiteboard sketch or an off-the-cuff demo.

Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) are powerful technologies that were first introduced in the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0. In release 3.5 of the .NET Framework, these two technologies work even better together. In this installment of geekSpeak, Jon Flanders from Pluralsight introduces you to workflow services , and he describes how workflow services unites WCF and WF and provides great new features for building solutions. Your hosts for this geekSpeak are Lynn Langit and Peter Laudati.

If you have a question or comment you would like us to address during the webcast, visit the geekSpeak blog and submit it now.

Guest Presenter: Jon Flanders, Consultant, Pluralsight

Although Jon Flanders spent the first few years of his professional life as an attorney, he quickly found chasing bits more interesting than chasing ambulances. He first worked at the University of Minnesota, building a financial reporting Web site using ASP and Microsoft SQL Server. Since joining the training industry in 1999, Jon has been a part of various projects while migrating from the world of ASP and COM to the Microsoft .NET Framework, ASP.NET, and Web Services. He co-authored Mastering Visual Studio .NET (O'Reilly Media, Inc., 2003) and has been working with Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 since before its public release, authoring courseware, articles, and utilities, in addition to providing BizTalk Server consulting services. Jon is an independent consultant and trainer, training through Pluralsight. Jon has also been involved with Windows Workflow Foundation since its beta release, and he has been working with Microsoft to deliver jumpstart training for the BizTalk Server 2006 R2 product and the BizTalk RFID platform.
