TechNet Webcast: Extending SharePoint Server 2007 Search Capabilities by Exposing Data with the Business Data Catalog (Level 300)  

In this webcast, we show you how the Business Data Catalog (BDC), a new feature in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, enables you to index and present business data securely from a variety of sources and applications throughout your organization, without the need for complex coding. We illustrate the metadata model of entities, properties, and methods in the BDC, and we show you how to create and register applications to expose data to the SharePoint Server 2007 search service. Attend this session to get a glimpse at the security architecture of the BDC and to see how you can apply it to different search scenarios. We also explore how you can use actions to redirect, with a single click, to other resources related to a search result, for example, mapping a customer’s location with Windows Live Search.
