Event Overview

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services has built-in support for Microsoft Windows authentication, but it is also possible to integrate Reporting Services with any custom authentication scheme you want. In this webcast, we demonstrate some sample code for a custom security model and offer guidelines for determining when it is appropriate to use custom security. We also look at alternatives to custom security, such as using Microsoft ASP.NET membership controls and the ASP.NET Report Viewer control.

Presenter: Geoff Snowman, MSDN Developer Community Champion, Microsoft Corporation

Geoff Snowman wrote his first Microsoft Windows programs back in 1985 using the Microsoft Windows 1.0 beta software development kit (SDK). Before he accepted the community champion role, Geoff was a senior consultant for Microsoft Consulting Services and an architect evangelist with the Microsoft Mid-Atlantic district. He worked for a small consulting firm that created solutions based on Microsoft technologies before he joined Microsoft in 2001.
