Event Overview

No, not the planet! We are talking about Multiple Active Result Sets (MARS), a technology that makes its debut in Microsoft SQL Server 2005. In this webcast, we focus on using MARS from ADO.NET 2.0 with the SQLClient .NET Data Provider included with version 2.0 of the Microsoft .NET Framework. We show you how to use MARS to execute multiple commands and open multiple data readers on a single connection. Learn how these commands can be scoped easily within the same transaction, making it truly possible to achieve parallel transactions-something that was impossible in ADO.NET 1.x. We also cover best practices, including the benefits of connection pooling versus MARS.

Presenters: Glen Gordon, Developer Community Champion, Microsoft Corporation, and Julia Lerman

Glen has managed the design, implementation and deployment of enterprise software solutions built on Windows DNA and .NET architectures. Julia runs the Vermont.NET User Group and is an independent consultant.
