This session is designed to demonstrate to customers how Microsoft IT uses our technologies internally, as well as other general best practices, to Save Time, Save Energy and Save Money for the company. Key themes such as using Unified Communications to improve
employee productivity and reduce T&E expenses and our carbon footprint, using virtualization technology built natively into Windows Server 2008 to better utilize hardware and decrease power consumption in data centers, consolidation of data centers and infrastructure
through Microsoft’s enabling technologies and Power Management features of Windows will be explored among other topics.
Speaker Details
Jonathan Lewis is the Sr. IT Manager for all of Australia/New Zealand and has been with Microsoft for 16 years, the majority of that spent in various key positions in IT. As IT Manager Jonathan’s key responsibilities include the delivery and
continuous improvement of IT infrastructure services to support the various Lines of Businesses, rolling out new technologies to the Australian employees such as Unified Communications and Sharepoint and sharing best practices and lessons learned from those
rollouts with Microsoft customers. Prior to moving to Australia last April Jonathan spent several years as an IT Service Manager with a focus on Messaging and Collaboration technologies in the Messaging and Collaboration group including Exchange/Email, Unified
Messaging and Fax. Most recently Jonathan spent 2 years as Service Management for a challenging new business unit called Microsoft Managed Solutions (software as a service) with a focus on the hosted messaging component before taking on the Australian Sr.
IT Manager roll and relocating to Australia from the United States. Jonathan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge on the key infrastructure technologies Microsoft uses on a daily basis to run it’s business, how they are architected and how they are
managed within the IT organization.
