Derek Ferguson is one of the world's foremost experts on mobile software development. In addition to serving as Expand Beyond Chief Technology Evangelist, he is the editor-in-chief of Sys-Con Media's .NET Developer's Journal and president of the Chicago Wireless Developers User Group. Ferguson has accrued numerous certifications as well as book writing and speaking credits. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional, a Sun Certified Java Programmer, and a Certified Lotus Principal Professional. In May 2000, Ferguson was one of just a handful of industry insiders targeted by Microsoft to participate in a special "technology summit" at their corporate headquarters. The technologies discussed at this summit have since formed the foundation of Microsoft's .NET initiative.
