TechNet Webcast: SQL Server 2008 (Part 1 of 3): High-Performance Data Warehousing (Level 300)  

Attend this session to learn how to incorporate the new features in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 to provide a high-performance data warehouse that can scale to larger number of users and growing volumes of data. In this session, we cover new technologies like partitioned table parallelism, star join query enhancements, and Grouping Sets.

Eric Hanson is the lead program manager for query processing in the Microsoft SQL Server relational engine team. He is the owner of the data warehouse scalability scenario for the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 release. He received his bachelor's of science in computer science from Cornell in 1983 and his PhD in computer science (database systems) from University of California, Berkeley, in 1987. He served for four years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the database research group in the computer and information science and engineering department at the University of Florida from 1992-2001, where he received tenure and attained the rank of associate professor. He formed a software company related to his research at the University of Florida and worked there until 2002, when he joined Microsoft.
