Event Overview

The Windows Management Interface (WMI) is a pervasive component of Microsoft Windows that is often useful in critical situations. Many enterprise management applications rely on WMI, so it is important that administrators know how to troubleshoot it properly. In this webcast, we examine the WMI architecture and look closely at how it works. We cover common situations you are likely to encounter with WMI and explain how to fix specific issues without compromising the stability of the applications that rely upon it. We also demonstrate how the new WMIDiag tool can assist you in identifying potential issues and make recommendations on how to fix them.

Presenter: Alain Lissoir, Senior Program Manager, Microsoft Corporation

Alain Lissoir is now working as the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) program manager at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington. He spent 15 years working at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), Compaq Computers and most recently Hewlett-Packard (HP), with extensive experience in directories, scripting, automation and management technologies. Alain is a frequent speaker at various technical conferences, and he has written a two-volume book on WMI under Microsoft Windows Server 2003, in addition to several articles and white papers about scripting technologies.
