Event Overview
|
All Microsoft SQL Server data access APIs provide an abstraction to represent sessions and requests within those sessions. SQL Server 2000 and earlier restricted the programming model such that at any point in time there would
be at most one pending request on a given session. Several alternatives have been implemented to work around this limitation, of which server-side cursors is probably the most common. SQL Server 2005 introduces Multiple Active Result Sets (MARS), which removes
this constraint. This session explores the design, architecture, and semantic changes in MARS and what considerations you should take into account to get maximum benefit out of these improvements.
Presenter: Christian Kleinerman, Program Manager, Microsoft Corporation
